Who is the mind behind Emes of Torah?
Asher Stange
Asher Stange is a teacher and thinker with a deep passion for helping others understand the core principles of Judaism—not just as beliefs, but as truths grounded in reason.
For over a decade, Asher has been involved in Torah education, focusing on giving students the tools to think independently, ask real questions, and pursue clarity. Asher believes that when people truly understand the foundations of Torah and belief in God, they connect more deeply and live more meaningfully.
Originally from Montreal, Stange learned in Yeshivat Reishit, Yeshiva University, and Ner Yisrael. Asher currently live in Ramat Beit Shemesh with my wife and our four children.
“I started Emes of Torah because I saw how many people—even those raised in observant homes—had never received clear, thoughtful answers to the most basic questions: What is Torah? Why do we believe in God? What does it really mean to be a Jew? Too often, these questions are ignored or met with vague responses. I wanted to create a space where we could explore them seriously—through logic, evidence, and the rich tradition of Jewish thought.”
Over the years, Stange has taught students from a wide range of backgrounds—in yeshiva, summer programs, and one-on-one settings. My focus has always been to cultivate independent thinking: not just to give answers, but to help students learn how to ask better questions and think more deeply.
Stange’s approach is rooted in the belief that Torah is not afraid of scrutiny. On the contrary—it welcomes it. In a world where truth often feels out of reach, we believe that the Torah’s truths are both accessible and intellectually rigorous. Emes of Torah is an attempt to make that case: not with apologetics or slogans, but with honesty, depth, and respect for the mind and soul of the listener.
Emes of Torah
“I believe that truth is the most precious commodity in the world, and the pursuit of it is worth any cost. It’s one thing to be taught the truth — it’s another to discover it for yourself. God has given us this precious gift in the form of the Torah; now it’s time we truly understand it and learn to appreciate it.”- Asher Stange
